Welcome!

Welcome to my newest adventure!

I'll use this first post to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Watts and I'm married to a high school math teacher. A two teacher home can be a blessing and a curse. We have a beautiful daughter who is 2 1/2 that is the sweetest girl I've ever met. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2000 (but technically, class of '99). WHOOP! on taking that extra year. I love to read and watch TV and movies. Some of which might slip in here!

This is my 20th year in education and it hardly seems possible. I've done a little bit of what seems like everything that can be done. However, this year I've been given an amazing opportunity to be an Instructional Coach for 3-5th grade. Our focus this year is on literacy and that's my favorite so I'm super pumped. I'm extremely excited to support teachers with planning and instruction. I hope to share a lot of that excitement and planning here.

Reflection will be a big part of my blog too, as I believe that reflection is key to teacher success. The ability to reflect on your teaching processes and decisions can make a tremendous difference for your students. Reflection can be fun when you have made the right decisions and it can be frightening when you know your decisions need to change.

Albert Einstein said "The world is as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking." That is such a powerful statement. Our classroom is its own microcosm of humanity where the thinking of our students and ourselves determine the classroom community we create and the imprint our students will make on humanity.
